How Can irritable Bowel Syndrome be Treated?

I m 29 years old, female, with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). I ve done a blood test and D3 levels releaved to be 8 ng/ml. Given my bowel conditions, should I take vitamin D3 oral supplements or injection? In the past few weeks I ve been experiencing headaches, occasional dizziness/nausea, and fatigue. Could this be related to vitamin D3 deficiency? (my brain MRI does not show any abnormality)

Hello,

You are reporting only the low levels of vit.D3. However, I wish to know about your hemoglobin, and iron levels too in order to rule out anemia.

Sometimes, anaemia and low vitamin D3 can cause the symptoms you are experiencing: headaches, occasional dizziness/nausea, fatigue.

Good MRI was fine, with no abnormality. Should start taking vit.D3 supplement. Plus should eat more foods high in vitamin D3 (dairy, fish, egg yolks, etc).

However, pay attention to IBS symptoms. Sometimes, maldigestion will cause problems with ingested vit.D3 in the bowels, leading to low levels in blood.

Get more exposed to the sunshine to get a natural vitamin D3. Do not overexposed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
